Recommended Reading

In preparation for some upcoming tutorials on Apple’s Shake, a high-end compositing program, I have compiled a list of books that are highly recommended for learning the program, as well as the inner workings of digital compositing. Although Apple’s program is extremely powerful, it is also very different from programs such as Adobe After Effects, or Apple’s own program, Motion. Capable of compositing 4k images and used by such companies as ILM and Weta Digital, Shake has the power waiting behind the scenes, but takes some know-how to bring it out.
